There are many attractions and just on the doorstep of Domaine de Clément.
Locally in the village of Fontiers-Cabardès there is a grocery which also sells bread and croissants each morning. The local bar, the Club 620 is very friendly, open all day, and offers lunches and dinners, as well as hosting regular music concerts and open mic events. Its a good place to watch the football or rugby, offering a lively evening atmosphere.
Also close by are riding and bicycle hire facilities as well as two lovely tennis courts. There are fantastic trails very close by, ideal for cycling, mountain biking or running, and there are lots of fishing lakes and rivers. Cathar castles are in abundance close by, as are grottos and caves. A trip to Carcassonne is a must.
Golf fanatics are well served by two lovely courses within 30 minutes, one at Carcassonne, the other at Mazamet, and watch this space for news of two new local golf courses.
Further afield, but within easy reach are the fabulous Mediterannean beaches, freshwater lakes for swimming, the Lac de Cavayère (also known as Carcassonne Plage) and numerous water/leisure/adventure parks. The white water rafting at Quillan is a brilliant day out. Narbonne, Toulouse and Sète also offer many riches to be discovered.
More adventurous day trips open up the possibilities to see Andorra, Barcelona, the Dali museum in Spain, and the Costa Brava.
Fans of gastronomy will adore the range of wines, from the Corbières, Minervois, Malpère and Fitou together with the classic dishes including cassoulet, duck, foie gras and cheeses such as Roquefort and Morbier. Wine tasting and chateaux trips are highly recommended.
